education saves lives - it's simple

First stop was a Leprosy Centre, called Sumanahalli in Bangalore. There they were able to do 10 recordings in Kannada and met with the Principal of WLACW College in Bangalore with the possibility of working together. They were able to give a DVD player and lessons to a local school for orphans and destitute children.
Next stop was the slums of Kolkata where they joined up with Nav Jeevan, a project run by Sister Lizy Thomas for Street Children. Here they managed to get 19 recordings in Bengali, almost got swept away by the monsoons and met up with the Principal of the Women's Christian College, again with the possibility of working together. Not only did they get to meet and integrate with the street children, they were lucky enough to be there when there was a full eclipse of the sun on 22nd July and to witness it.
Moving right up to Assam, they visited the Woman's Development Centre, run by Sisters of the Cross in Guwahati which was one of TME's first projects started in 2002. Here they were able to give the Sisters 4 new DVD players all donated by Mr Clive Dove-Dixon from money raised by the Quakers. They were delighted to see that our DVD players and lessons were still being used 7 years after we first gave them to the Centre and to hear that one young boy had been so keen to learn after using our DVD players he had gone on to get a job working with computers! Again 7 lessons were recorded in Assamese in the space of 2 days.
Tracy and her sons came back delighted with what they had been able to achieve and to see how well our DVD players and lessons are working in these places. Her sons thought everyone should try visiting projects like these at least once in their lifetime!
