education saves lives - it's simple

FAQ

1. What is a FAQ? In case you didn’t know this is short for “Frequently Asked Questions” we will be developing this week by week as more questions are asked so hopefully you will soon find the answer to YOUR question here!

2. Who are your lessons aimed at? Primarily women and children Women are targeted because research shows that educating a woman in the developing is incredibly effective in helping reduce poverty. There are direct links for example between female literacy rates and average family size. Children are included because they are so vulnerable and because their knowledge and attitudes will shape the future.

3. How many staff do you have overseas? None!! We work entirely through existing community groups at grass roots level. These may be schools, hospitals, churches, religious orders or even just individual activists click here to see a video clip from one of our Ugandan partners.

4. Who writes your scripts and how do you know they are accurate? Anybody can draft the initial script. We have a list of more than 200 topics drawn up in consultation with people living or working in the developing world and the content planned for each one is very simple. They are intended to provide information that is relevant across all communities and cultures. The draft script is reviewed by a subject expert and also by someone who has practical experience of working in a developing country. Finally the English is simplified to try to avoid errors in translation. We have drawn up guidelines for scriptwriters but PLEASE contact us if you want to have a go!

5. Can I translate one of your scripts? Yes! Especially if you speak one of our target languages. There are some guidelines for translators to help but again PLEASE contact us if you want to get involved with this.
